The United States Navy in
Vietnam - Four Color videos and 968 page A6 Intruder Flight Manual
in Adobe Acrobat .pdf file format included on the DVD
* River Patrol: US Navy
Mekong River Delta Operations (1967 -30:00 - Color) I spent quite a
bit of time restoring the color in this US Navy film and am very
pleased with the results. The USS Harnett County (LST-821) served as
a floating base in the China Sea for PBR and helicopter
patrol operations in the Mekong River Delta during the Vietnam War.
The labyrinthine Delta was a hot zone in the war against well
organized Viet Cong insurgents, immortalized by the film "Apocalypse
Now." This beautifully photographed film is the real thing -- a
"slice of life" documentary showing daily operations aboard
the Harnett County and exciting action on swift boat river patrols &
Huey helicopter gunship ground support missions. Highly recommended!
* The Grumman A-6E Intruder:
Any Weather ... Any Time (1973 - 20:00 Color) The A6-E, the
definitive version of the Navy's A6 Intruder attack bomber with
upgraded navigation and attack systems, was introduced in 1970 and
first deployed on 9 December 1971. The earlier separate search and
track fire control radars of the A-6A/B/C were replaced by a single
Norden AN/APQ-148 multimode radar, and on board computers with a more
sophisticated & reliable IC based system. The film covers the
essential role of the A6 as the most potent attack weapon for Vietnam
War era US Navy Carrier battle groups. A series of Naval and Marine
corps commanders give detailed examples of how the aircraft was used
in a wide variety of roles including close air support strikes
coordinated with ground troops and long range all weather bombing
missions., supplemented by copious film footage of air action in the
field. The aircraft’s flight characteristics, navigation and
advanced electronic attack systems are covered as well. Great color
A-6 footage showing both carrier and land based operations.
* Your United States Navy in
Action in Vietnam (1968-30:00-Color) Narrated by NBC News legend Chet
Huntley This wide ranging color documentary gives a overview of USN
activities during the Vietnam War, including carrier based air
strikes, river patrols, Marine amphibious landings, base construction
by Sea Bees, reconnaissance, direct gunfire support from warships and
more. Great color footage of air, sea & land operations.
* Beans Bullets & Black
Oil (1970 30:00 Color) Narrated by Academy Award winner Henry Fonda.
During the Vietnam War, for every sailor, aviator or marine who
actually faced the enemy, there were ten more performing essential
support roles. Ships don't sail, marines can't fight & aircraft
don't fly without fuel, rations, ammunition, spare parts,
distribution networks and maintenance facilities. This is a rare
overview of amazingly complex USN logistical support operations in
Vietnam. Includes ship to ship transfer of supplies at sea,
helicopter transfers, depot operations, specialized ship
construction, life aboard a supply ship & more. Added bonuses
include a brief history of the development of USN logistical ops from
the days of sailing ships & live firing of a battleship’s
16"guns shown from inside the turret.
